Description

Orion is a fun part of the sky.  I haven't imaged M78 or Barnard's Loop for several years and thought it would be fun to revisit this area with my new travel rig, the Esprit 100 and AM5.  I used the NBColourMapper script to blend the starless Ha data into the starless RGB image and also to blend the starless luminance channel with a starless grayscale version of the Ha image... then brought them all together and added in the stars.  This script makes this kind of thing surprisingly easy.  I love the interplay between the Ha signal and swirling brown dust around M78 and LDN 1622, and the motion in Barnard's Loop.  There's a lot going on here!
